Pinduoduo's overseas e-commerce platform Temu has surpassed eBay to become the world's second-largest e-commerce website, with a monthly visit of nearly 700 million times. Temu was launched in September 2022 and quickly became the most downloaded shopping app in the United States. Although only a quarter of the traffic comes from the United States, Temu's business covers 79 countries and regions. In the first half of this year, Temu's sales were approximately $20 billion, with a second-quarter GMV of around $12 billion, and a market share of nearly 45% in the United States
On September 12th, DoNews reported that according to SimilarWeb data, Temu, an overseas e-commerce platform under Pinduoduo, has surpassed eBay to become the world's second largest e-commerce website, with Temu.com receiving nearly 700 million visits per month.
Temu, launched in September 2022, became the most downloaded shopping app in the United States just a few weeks after its release. It is worth mentioning that only one-fourth of Temu.com's traffic comes from the United States, with the company's business covering 79 countries and regions. In comparison, the top-ranked Amazon has a monthly traffic of 2.7 billion visits, almost all of which are from U.S. users.
Earlier reports indicated that Temu's sales in the first half of this year reached around $20 billion (approximately RMB 142.495 billion), with GMV in the second quarter at around $12 billion and a market share of nearly 45% in the U.S.
In contrast, Temu's projected full-year sales for 2023 are $18 billion (approximately RMB 128.245 billion), while TikTok's e-commerce transactions in 2023 are estimated to be around $20 billion
