大新銀行經濟研究及投資策略部發表評論表示，本港去年第四季經濟預估為按年下跌 4.2%，跌幅較第三季的 4.6% 略為收窄，但遜於市場的 2.9% 及該行預期的 2.8%，按季則大致持平，市場原先預期為增長 2%。
評論指，本港去年第四季外貿表現進一步轉差，其中出口按年下跌 24.8%，跌幅較第三季的 15.8 進一步擴大，為 1975 年以來最差的季度表現，主要受到外圍及內地需求疲弱拖累；進口跌幅亦擴大至 22.8%，跌幅高過前一季的 16.4%。然而服務輸出和輸入均回升。
