Tesla needs to be careful! Mercedes-Benz issues a new challenge.
CLA Class is currently just a concept car. The car is expected to go into production next year and will be the first model of Mercedes-Benz's all-new entry-level electric vehicle.
The company unveiled a new concept electric sedan at the German Auto Show, showcasing its impressive range.
According to industry standards, the electric concept sedan, named CLA Class, has a range of over 466 miles, surpassing the long-range version of the Model 3 (with a range of 391 miles).
"The inspiration for this new vehicle family comes from a generation of car buyers who desire the unique feeling of owning a Mercedes-Benz... They are also seeking a sustainable option that surpasses other models," said Ola Kallenius, Chairman of Mercedes-Benz, during the unveiling of the car at the German IAA Auto Show on Sunday. In a company statement, he added, "This hypermiler (referring to a highly fuel-efficient model) is a one-liter car for the electric era."

Mercedes-Benz's sales of pure electric vehicles more than doubled last year, reaching 117,800 units, accounting for nearly 6% of its total retail customer car sales.
In comparison, Tesla delivered over 1.3 million vehicles in 2022. However, Mercedes-Benz aims to sell 50% electric vehicles by 2025 and achieve full electrification by 2030.
On Monday, Mercedes-Benz stock rose by 1.2% in overseas trading. Tesla stock did not trade due to the Labor Day holiday.
