谷歌母公司 Alphabet，还是真有钱！ 将再次豪掷 50 亿美元投资其自动驾驶汽车部门 Waymo，“这新一轮融资将助力 Waymo 持续打造世界领先的自动驾驶公司。”
Waymo 首席执行官 Tekedra Mawakana 也兴奋发声：“Alphabet 已承诺向 Waymo 提供高达 50 亿美元的资金，这是对我们团队极大的信任，也是对我们在技术、产品和商业化方面惊人进步的认可。”Alphabet 旗下包括 Waymo 在内的 “其他业务” 部门第二季度实现了 3.65 亿美元的营收，高于上年同期的 2.85 亿美元，但亏损也从去年同期的 8.13 亿美元扩大至 11.3 亿美元。Waymo 每周提供 5 万次付费出行，主要在旧金山和凤凰城，至今已完成 200 万次出行。今年 6 月，Waymo 还取消了等候名单，并向所有旧金山用户开放了乘车服务。此前，Waymo 在 2020 年的第一轮外部融资中筹集了 22.5 亿美元，2021 年又融资 25 亿美元，吸引了众多知名机构投资。现在美国就是 Tesla PK Waymo 了！通用汽车旗下的自动驾驶汽车部门 Cruise 没钱了，将无限期推迟为城市使用而设计的自动驾驶班车 Origin 的生产，技术不行，人也不行，钱也没了。
