On Monday, Apple quietly launched this promotion on its official Chinese website. The discount will last from January 18th to January 21st, just before the Lunar New Year shopping season, and is equivalent to a discount of about 5% on its top products.
Currently, domestic Chinese brands such as Huawei are increasingly favored in the Chinese market, and Apple's move is a response to this trend. Analysts say that the sales of Apple's latest Apple 15 in China after its launch last year are far from the sales of the previous generation.
Investment bank Jefferies issued a warning, stating that after Huawei launches the Mate 60 series equipped with China's self-developed 7-nanometer chips, Apple's sales in China may decline by 30% in 2023.
Apple's Chinese retailers have previously offered larger discounts on the latest Apple products. Apple itself usually discounts its products before the Lunar New Year every year, but it has not reduced the price of its latest Apple products for many years.
It is reported that this year's discount covers all products from Apple 13 to Apple 15 Pro Max. According to the Apple website, Apple will also offer discounts on devices including MacBook Air, most iPad models, some AirPods, and Apple Watch SE. In addition, Apple is expected to reduce the price of MacBook Air by up to 800 yuan.
