According to the Smart Finance app, on June 25th, He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPENG-W (09868), shared his experience with Tesla's FSD V12.3.6 version and Waymo's autonomous driving in California. He pointed out, "Waymo performs better in downtown San Francisco, while FSD excels in Silicon Valley and on highways, achieving high scores with smooth handling in many road conditions." He also expressed his admiration for the significant progress FSD has made in recent months, and mentioned that XPENG will learn from FSD's excellent features and user experience. He believes that 2025 will be the moment of fully autonomous driving with ChatGPT!
Previously, at the China Electric Vehicle Hundred-Person Forum on March 16th, He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPENG, predicted that the turning point for advanced intelligent driving may come in 18 months, presenting a huge breakthrough opportunity for players like XPENG in the elimination round. How to face this elimination round? He Xiaopeng emphasized the importance of learning from industry leaders to enhance system capabilities, organizational capabilities, and operational capabilities. However, he also pointed out that "the old way of doing things won't win this war."
During the company's 2024Q1 performance meeting, XPENG stated that they initially believed that by the second half of 2025, autonomous driving capabilities would become a strong necessity. However, after the introduction of large models, it is possible that this timeline may be advanced to an earlier date next year.
Since AI Day on May 20th, XPENG has integrated the AI Tianji system with large models, including intelligent cockpit and intelligent driving capabilities, into its main vehicle models. By completely abandoning the use of high-precision maps, the company expects that XPENG's XNGP will not only meet the national urban driving demand as expected in the third quarter of this year, but also aims to achieve the goal of being able to drive on every road. This will help XPENG's automatic driving assistance technology to be more effectively promoted globally.
With the upgrade of the company's intelligent driving technology architecture to be driven by end-to-end large models, data barriers and data value will be significantly amplified. Through massive high-quality data training, XNGP will achieve performance in complex traffic scenarios that may even surpass the average human driver.
The company plans to achieve a city-level intelligent driving experience by 2025 that matches the level of high-speed driving, requiring intervention only once every few hundred kilometers within a city
