Huawei MateBook GT 14 officially goes on sale

Huawei MateBook GT Series' first laptop has arrived.

On the evening of August 8th, Huawei's new flagship laptop, the HUAWEI MateBook GT 14, officially went on sale, powered by Huawei's self-developed PanGu large model.

Institutions believe that more AI PC products are expected to be launched in 2024, adding vitality to the PC market sales in 2024.

According to Huawei, the Huawei MateBook GT 14 is mainly targeted at professionals in fields such as graphic design, engineering, video editing, and gaming who have high requirements for screen and performance.

Huawei MateBook GT 14 is the first product in the Huawei MateBook GT series. In terms of price, the Huawei MateBook GT 14 starts at 7499 yuan.

It is understood that the Huawei MateBook GT 14 features a 14.2-inch, 2.8K high-definition resolution, 144Hz high refresh rate OLED full screen. This is another OLED screen laptop introduced by Huawei.

Apple is also laying out OLED screen laptops. According to a research report by TF Securities, from the perspective of downstream terminal manufacturers, many brands such as Lenovo, Asus, HP, Dell, etc., have successively laid out OLED products in the mid-to-high-end product lines. Apple has clearly planned to switch all future Macbook laptops to OLED screens. It is expected that after Apple launches new OLED laptop products in 2026, it will effectively boost the market share of OLED laptop panels, moving from single digits to double digits.

According to Huawei, the Huawei MateBook GT 14 is equipped with the 1st generation Intel Core Ultra low-voltage processor. Empowered by Huawei's self-developed PanGu large model, the MateBook GT 14 supports functions such as AI Space, AI Vision, and AI Sound.

Research firm Counterpoint believes that AI PCs are still the hottest topic in the PC industry. Laptops powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X platform have sparked the first wave of AI laptops. The expected release of the AMD Ryzen AI 300 processor and Intel Lunar Lake processor in the third quarter of 2024 will further drive the popularity of AI PCs.

AI Driving PC Market Recovery

CICC believes that 2023 was a historically bad year for PC shipments, and AI is expected to add vitality to PC market sales in 2024. DBS Securities stated that more AI PC products are expected to be launched in 2024, thus opening the first year of AI PCs, driving a new round of user upgrades from the supply side in 2024 Counterpoint data shows that in the second quarter of 2024, global PC shipments increased by 3.1% year-on-year to reach 62.5 million units, marking the second consecutive quarter of year-on-year growth in the PC market. According to Canalys, the shipment of laptops (including mobile workstations) worldwide in the second quarter reached 50 million units, a 4% year-on-year increase.

Looking at Huawei, Canalys data shows that in the first quarter of 2024, Huawei's PC shipments in the Chinese market reached 956,000 units, remaining flat year-on-year, ranking second in terms of shipments.

In the first quarter of 2024, Apple launched a new AI PC, the MacBook Air, leading to competition among major manufacturers in the AI PC field, with AI becoming the driving force behind the global PC market's rebound. IDC predicts that global PC shipments will reach 265 million units in 2024, a 2% year-on-year increase, with the imminent arrival of AI PCs being a key driving factor.
