Apple cleared in iPhone security patent case: report
Apple has won a patent case regarding security technology, defeating claims from Identity Security that it infringed on four of its patents. A federal jury in Texas ruled that Apple did not violate patents related to Face ID, Touch ID, and passcode security measures. The case lasted three years, and Apple was represented by multiple law firms.
- Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) defeated a three-year-old patent case on Friday, in which Identity Security claimed the company infringed on four of its security patents, Bloomberg Law reported.
- Identity Security wanted $300M from Apple for allegedly taking its patented technology and putting it into its iPhones, the report said.
- However, an Austin federal jury for the US District Court of the Western District of Texas determined Apple did not infringe on the patents in question, which were related to Face ID, Touch ID and passcode security measures.
- Apple was represented by Desmarais LLP, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and Morrison & Foerster LLP law firms.
