Tesla's Chief Information Officer Nagesh Saldi resigns
Tesla's Chief Information Officer Nagesh Saldi will resign, with employees being informed on October 4th. Saldi joined Tesla in 2012 and became the CIO in 2018, responsible for information technology and security strategies. He was involved in the construction of new data centers for Tesla in Texas and New York. According to Bloomberg, on October 4th, sources revealed that Tesla employees were informed that Chief Information Officer Nagesh Saldi will be leaving the company.
Reports indicate that Saldi reported directly to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Sources said that the news of his departure was shared with employees this week.
Two sources mentioned that this long-serving executive was involved in the construction of Tesla's new data centers in Texas and New York. The company is expanding its computing capabilities to accelerate breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and achieve autonomous driving.
Musk, Saldi, and representatives from Tesla did not respond to requests for comments.
According to Saldi's LinkedIn profile, he left HP in 2012 and joined Tesla, becoming the Chief Information Officer in 2018 when Tesla was struggling to increase Model 3 sedan production. Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are typically responsible for all information technology and security strategies, including data centers.
As previously reported by IT Home, with changes in Tesla's focus and priorities, several other executives have left the company this year. For example, Tesla's Senior Vice President Drew Baglino and Head of Government Affairs Rohan Patel left in April. Tesla's Chief Human Resources Officer Allie Arebalo also departed a few months ago.
Currently, Tesla only has three appointed executives: CEO Musk, CFO Vaibhav Taneja, and Senior Vice President of Automotive Tom Zhu
