Boston Federal Reserve Chair Susan Collins stated that as inflation rates decline and the economy becomes more vulnerable to shocks, the Fed's 50 basis point rate cut last month was a "cautious" move. Furthermore, interest rates may need further adjustments in the future. Collins largely reiterated her comments from Tuesday, including her belief that policymakers should take a "cautious, data-dependent approach" when lowering rates to help maintain the strength of the U.S. economy. She emphasized once again that Fed policy has no predetermined path
