Powerful alliance! Apple TV+ is about to go live on the Amazon US Channel Store
Amazon will add Apple's Apple TV+ streaming service to its channel store in the United States, offering popular shows such as "Ted Lasso" and "The Morning Show" for the first time. Apple will sell TV+ subscription services through Prime later this month. This expands the cooperation between the two companies, with Amazon's channel store selling over 100 streaming services, and Apple TV+ being one of the few major streaming services not previously available
According to the financial news app Zhitong Finance, Amazon (AMZN.US) will add Apple's (AAPL.US) Apple TV+ streaming service to its channel store in the United States, offering popular shows such as "Ted Lasso" and "Slow Horses" for the first time in its video supermarket.
Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President of Amazon Prime Video, stated on Wednesday that Apple will begin selling TV+ subscription services through Prime later this month.
Hopkins said, "We provide access to hundreds of millions of users worldwide for channel partners. The interaction with Prime members accessing Prime Video around the world is a very good platform for other partners to reach them."
Amazon sells over 100 streaming services through its channel store, allowing customers to watch Max, Paramount+, and Hallmark programs within Prime Video. These services rely on Amazon to expand their audience.
Apple TV+ is one of the major streaming services not offered in this store, along with Netflix (NFLX.US) and Disney (DIS.US). These two companies are among the few streaming service companies with more viewers than Prime Video.
In recent years, Apple has invested billions of dollars in original programming, winning industry awards and critical acclaim. However, its streaming service has not attracted as many users as Netflix and Amazon.
This agreement expands the existing relationship between the two companies. In 2017, Amazon began offering the Prime Video app on Apple TV set-top boxes, and Prime Video has been integrated into the Apple TV app, covering the device lineup of the iPhone maker. The two companies are also retail partners, with Apple offering its official store through the Amazon website.
Hopkins also mentioned that he expects more integration, and Amazon's streaming service will achieve profitability "soon."
