TechInsights: Global laptop shipments in Q3 increased by 5% year-on-year to reach 53.3 million units

TechInsights reported that in Q3 2024, global laptop shipments increased by 5% year-on-year, reaching 53.3 million units. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter of growth in the laptop market. However, economic challenges continue to hinder growth in certain regions, resulting in a slower-than-expected recovery pace for the laptop market. The demand in the education sector, driven by the replacement cycle of devices purchased during the pandemic, has led to double-digit growth in Chromebooks. Business demand remains strong and is expected to continue until the end of Windows 10 service in October 2025. Consumer demand has also rebounded, but is mainly concentrated in the entry-level segment. In Q3 2024, Lenovo remained the leader in the laptop market with a 6% year-on-year increase in shipments compared to the same period last year. HP remained in second place, while Dell continued to struggle with a slight decline year-on-year. Apple's shipments declined year-on-year in this quarter as the new M4 Macbook is set to be released in Q4. ASUS almost kept pace with Apple, showing the highest growth rate among all PC manufacturers
