Market Chatter: China's TCL, Hisense Top LG, Samsung in Global TV Shipments in Q4
Chinese TV manufacturers TCL and Hisense surpassed Samsung and LG in global TV shipments for the first time in Q4 2024, capturing 30% of the market compared to 26% for Samsung and LG. Samsung remained the top individual TV maker with a 16% market share, despite a 2.4% decline in shipments. Hisense and TCL followed with 15.6% and 14.6% market shares, respectively, while LG's share fell to 9.8% with a 3.3% drop in shipments.
Chinese television makers TCL Technology and Hisense Visual Technology's global shipments beat South Korea's Samsung and LG for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2024, Yicai Global reported, citing research firm Omdia.
TCL and Hisense combined comprised 30% of the global TV shipment market during the period, compared with 26% for both Samsung and LG, the report said.
Samsung still was the top TV maker individually worldwide in Q4 even if its market share dropped to 16% and its shipment volume fell 2.4% during the period, the report said.
Hisense ranked second with a market share of 15.6% and TCL was third at 14.6%, Yicai said.
LG's market share slipped 9.8% while shipments slid 3.3%, Yicai reported.
