Taiwan Sugar Corporation is releasing land for investment in the central region, including 8,000 ping of land in the Dong District Quanyuan section, attracting nearly a hundred businesses to participate in the investment briefing. The American-style hypermarket Costco may establish its third location in Taichung, as the site is conveniently located and near shopping centers, meeting its site selection criteria. The existing two Costco stores serve a wide area, and if a location is established in the Dong District, it will help develop business opportunities in the old city area and surrounding regions, promoting the development of the Dong District real estate market

Taiwan Sugar recently released land for investment in the central region, including a low-carbon residential cooperative development project in Beitun Chenping section, as well as two land use rights investment projects in the Dong District Quanyuan section and Nantou Puli Fuxing Hot Springs. Among them, the land area of the Dong District Quanyuan section reaches 8,000 ping, making it a rare large-scale prime land in Taichung City, attracting significant market attention. The investment briefing attracted nearly a hundred businesses, including the popular American wholesale store Costco, raising market curiosity about whether there is an intention to establish a third location in Taichung.

Chen Dingzhong, a senior manager at Taiwan Real Estate Group's Trend Center, stated that Costco's locations in Taiwan are all situated in urban areas, with land areas around 10,000 ping. Based on this standard, the Dong District Quanyuan section in Taichung City is a more likely target to attract Costco's attention. This site is a complete commercial area with roads on all four sides and is not far from shopping destinations like Mitsui Lalaport and Show Chwan Life. If a large shopping mall is planned in the future, it will help connect surrounding consumer traffic and expand business opportunities. Additionally, the site is close to Taichung Station, providing clear transportation advantages, and the land conditions meet Costco's site selection standards.

Currently, Costco has two locations in Taichung: one in the Nantun District Phase 8 redevelopment area and the other at the Beitun District Depot. The former primarily serves consumers south of Taiyuan Road and west of Zhongtou Highway, while the latter meets shopping needs north of Taiyuan Road.

Chen Dingzhong pointed out that for residents in the old city area of the Dong District, as well as in Nantai Ping, Dali, and Wufeng, the existing two locations are quite a distance apart. Therefore, if Costco establishes a location in the Dong District, it could not only develop business opportunities in the old city area and the Dapingwu region but also expand its customer base towards Changhua Fen Yuan and Nantou Caotun. This would be a good choice for Costco to expand its layout, and Costco's strong customer attraction would significantly benefit the Dong District by drawing in crowds and enhancing functionality. If Costco indeed settles in the Dong District, it is expected to make the real estate market in the Dong District more vibrant.
