High-purity quartz mines have become a new mineral resource in China, and the country has struck gold in the new round of mineral exploration

According to reports from the Ministry of Natural Resources today, the "Announcement of Newly Discovered Mineral Species" was recently released, which identifies a new mineral species—high-purity quartz ore. Its emergence will change the previous situation of heavy reliance on imports and support the high-quality development of related strategic emerging industries. High-purity quartz ore refers to rocks from which silicon dioxide with a purity of no less than 99.995% can be obtained through beneficiation and purification, with impurity and inclusion content meeting the application requirements of high-tech fields such as semiconductors and photovoltaics. In addition to the newly established high-purity quartz ore, since the implementation of the new round of mineral exploration breakthrough strategic actions, the national resource quantities of 12 minerals, including copper, gold, gallium, germanium, and indium, have significantly increased in China
