
U.S. Treasury Secretary expects easing of China-U.S. tensions, Dow Jones gains expand to soar 1,100 points
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated at a closed-door investor summit on Tuesday that the tariff deadlock with China is unsustainable and that the situation is expected to ease. Following the news, U.S. stocks surged, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average recently soaring by 1,100 points or 2.9%; the Nasdaq rose by 522 points or 3.3%. The S&P 500 index also increased by 147 points or 2.9%.
The "Magnificent Seven" saw a significant rebound, with Tesla (TSLA.US) rising over 6%; Amazon (AMZN.US) up 5%, and Nvidia (NVDA.US), Apple (AAPL.US), and Meta (META.US) rising between 3% and 4%.
Yellen added that U.S.-China negotiations have not yet begun, but there is a possibility of reaching an agreement
