
NHK: Nissan plans to more than double its layoffs to nearly 20,000 people
Japanese NHK reported that Nissan Motor plans to expand its layoffs to nearly 20,000 people, which is equivalent to 15% of its total workforce.
Affected by weak sales in the Chinese and American markets, the company's net profit for the first half of the fiscal year ending in September last year plummeted by 94%. In November last year, the company stated that it planned to lay off about 9,000 people.
