Samsung launches redesigned smartwatch with built-in Google AI

Google announced on Wednesday that it is officially launching its Gemini AI on Wear OS smartwatches, with the first supported devices being the newly released Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series.

Samsung Electronics launched the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, priced at $350 and $500 respectively, featuring Google's Wear OS 6 operating system and Gemini AI chatbot. The new devices were made available for pre-order on Wednesday and will start shipping on July 25.

The update of Gemini AI to Wear OS was first previewed in May, marking a significant shift in Google's wearable ecosystem. Gemini will gradually replace the existing Google Assistant on compatible devices, including those from Xiaomi, OnePlus, and other brands. Unlike its predecessor, Gemini supports more advanced voice interactions, capable of handling complex queries, setting tasks, and providing contextual assistance
