An Apple spokesperson stated that the platform showcases applications through rankings, algorithm recommendations, and expert-curated lists, asserting that "all recommendations adhere to objective standards" and that its goal is "to provide users with a safe exploration environment while creating fair competition opportunities for developers." On August 11th local time, xAI founder Elon Musk posted on social media accusing Apple of "openly violating antitrust laws," claiming that it favors OpenAI in App Store rankings, making it difficult for other AI companies to compete. Musk warned that his company xAI would take immediate legal action against Apple and questioned in another post why Apple "refuses to include X or Grok in the 'essential apps' recommendation area."
