
British media: Tesla is forced to offer up to a 40% discount to UK car rental companies
The British newspaper The Times reported, citing industry sources, that American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.US) was forced to offer discounts of up to 40% to UK car rental companies due to the company's lack of storage space for vehicles in the UK, necessitating the transfer of more vehicles to digest inventory. Reuters reported that Tesla did not provide an immediate comment.
Last month, Tesla's sales in the UK fell by about 60% year-on-year to 987 vehicles, while new car registrations in the UK fell by about 5% during the same period. Among the newly registered vehicles in the UK this year, 23.8% were battery electric vehicles
