The China-India Foreign Ministers' meeting achieved 10 outcomes

On August 18, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi. The two sides had positive, constructive, and forward-looking discussions on bilateral, regional, and international issues of common concern, reaching the following consensus and outcomes:

1. Both sides emphasized that the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries plays an irreplaceable important role in the development of China-India relations. They believe that a stable, cooperative, and forward-looking China-India relationship will help fully unleash the development potential of both sides and is in the common interest of both. They further believe that it is necessary to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote the sustained, healthy, and stable development of China-India relations.

2. The Chinese side welcomes Indian Prime Minister Modi's attendance at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit. The Indian side reiterated its full support for China’s role as the rotating presidency of the SCO and looks forward to the successful conclusion of the SCO Tianjin Summit with fruitful results.

3. Both sides agreed to support each other in hosting diplomatic activities. The Chinese side supports the Indian side in hosting the 2026 BRICS Leaders' Meeting. The Indian side supports the Chinese side in hosting the 2027 BRICS Leaders' Meeting.

4. Both sides agreed to explore the resumption of various intergovernmental bilateral dialogue and exchange mechanisms, strengthen cooperation, address each other's concerns, and properly manage differences. They agreed to hold the third meeting of the China-India High-Level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism in India in 2026.

5. Both sides agreed to continue mutual support for the series of commemorative activities marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India in 2025.

6. Both sides agreed to restore direct flights between mainland China and India as soon as possible and to revise the civil aviation transport agreement between the two countries. They agreed to provide visa facilitation for personnel engaged in tourism, business, media, and other activities between the two countries.

7. Both sides agreed to continue the pilgrimage of Indian pilgrims to the sacred mountains and lakes in Tibet, China, in 2026 and to expand its scale.

8. Both sides agreed to take concrete measures to facilitate the flow of trade and investment between the two countries.

9. Both sides agreed to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas through friendly consultations.

10. Both sides agreed to promote multilateralism, strengthen communication on major international and regional issues, uphold a multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization and based on rules, promote the multipolarization of the world, and safeguard the interests of developing countries.
