Two senior Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives are investigating whether Paramount and Skydance Media succumbed to President Trump's "illegal demands" to gain approval for their $8 billion merger deal. The lawmakers wrote in a letter: "This settlement raises significant concerns that Trump demanded and Paramount paid an illegal bribe — $16 million to the president in exchange for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approving the merger." They stated: "Paramount and Skydance Media's submission to President Trump's unfounded claims to complete the merger indicates their extreme disregard for any factors that could hinder profitability."
