U.S. Appeals Court Upholds Original Ruling: Trump Must Pay $83.3 Million in Damages to Carroll
On the 8th local time, the U.S. Court of Appeals announced that it upheld the judgment in the defamation case of Carroll v. Trump, and Trump is still required to pay $83.3 million in damages. In 2019, writer Carroll accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in the 1990s, which Trump denied and publicly called her allegations a "hoax," leading to a defamation lawsuit. In January 2024, a federal jury in New York ruled that Trump must pay Carroll $83.3 million in damages. In March of that year, Trump appealed this hefty damages ruling, and now the U.S. Court of Appeals has upheld the original judgment. (CCTV)
