
"Hong Kong Stocks" Hang Seng Index opened high, up 273 points; Alibaba, JD.com, and chip stocks perform well
Multiple banks in the U.S. announced their quarterly results, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average fluctuating to rise by 202 points or 0.4%. After seven consecutive declines, the Hang Seng Index rebounded in early trading, opening up 273 points or 1.1% at 25,714 points; the National Index opened up 108 points or 1.2% at 9,187 points; and the Hang Seng Tech Index opened up 77 points or 1.3% at 6,000 points.
JD.com (09618.HK) partnered with CATL (03750.HK) and GAC (02238.HK) to launch the "National Good Car," with JD.com and CATL opening up 2.1% and 1.3%, respectively, while GAC opened up 3.5%. In other automotive stocks, BYD (01211.HK) opened up 1.7%, while Li Auto (02015.HK) and XPeng (09868.HK) opened up 1.6%.
In other tech stocks, Tencent (00700.HK) and Kuaishou (01024.HK) opened up 0.6% and 0.5%, respectively, while Alibaba (09988.HK), Meituan (03690.HK), and Xiaomi (01810.HK) opened up between 1.5% and 2%. Bilibili (09626.HK) opened up 2.5%, and chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and Hua Hong (01347.HK) opened up 1.2% and 1%, respectively. Chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) opened up 3.7%.
Gold prices once approached $4,200, with Zhaojin (01818.HK) and Zijin (02899.HK) opening up 1.8% and 1.9%. Shandong Gold (01787.HK) forecasted a net profit increase of 84% to 98.5% for the first three quarters, but Morgan Stanley indicated that the guidance was below expectations, leading to a 5% decline in Shandong Gold's stock price. In the financial sector, HSBC (00005.HK) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (00388.HK) opened up 1.2% and 0.8%, respectively, while AIA (01299.HK) opened up 0.1%. Domestic insurance stocks China Life (02628.HK) opened up 2.6%, while PICC (02328.HK) and Ping An (02318.HK) each opened up 1.6%. Domestic bank stock China Merchants Bank (03968.HK) opened up 1.5%.
R&F Properties (01109.HK) reported a 4.2% increase in contract sales for September, with its stock price opening up 1.7%. MTR Corporation (00066.HK) CEO Jacob Kam will transition to chairman starting January next year, with the stock opening flat at HKD 26.62
