Uber partners with Dutch cloud company Nebius to invest up to $375 million in self-driving company
Uber (UBER.US) and the Dutch cloud infrastructure company Nebius Group will jointly invest up to $375 million in Avride, a subsidiary of Nebius focused on autonomous driving.
Avride stated that the funds will be used to accelerate the expansion of its autonomous vehicle fleet to 500 vehicles. If specific milestones set by both parties are achieved, the two companies will add more funding, bringing the total investment to $375 million. The investment will also support Avride's product development and regional expansion.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated that the company is actively investing in the autonomous driving technology ecosystem to prepare for a future that combines human drivers and autonomous driving services. Uber has previously invested or committed funds to companies such as XPeng (PONY.US) and Lucid (LCID.US), with some transactions amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars
