As the market becomes increasingly competitive, everyone is choosing the same day, like a needle against a wheat awn, sparking a simultaneous debate on which new energy MPV Chinese consumers will need in the future. A direct comparison with the GL8 hybrid, this showdown is like a battle between representative MPV models from two different eras.
The GL8 hybrid version was developed by the Pan-Asia Technical Center, a joint venture between General Motors and SAIC. Pan-Asia entered the new energy industry slightly late. As a hybrid product iterated from a classic model, the GL8 hybrid's overall design is based on a traditional fuel vehicle structure, with a battery capacity of around 24 kWh. The Voyah Dreamer, on the other hand, focuses more on the experience of a pure electric platform, equipped with a 43 kWh battery, aiming to provide consumers with a longer pure electric range. Of course, you might think the battery capacity of an MPV isn't that important, but in daily driving, the battery configuration directly affects the pure electric range, and the Voyah Dreamer has taken the lead in this aspect of design.
As a premium new energy brand under Dongfeng Group, Voyah has spared no expense in equipping the Dreamer, its flagship product, with the industry's highest thermal efficiency engine. It also features standard all-wheel drive across the lineup and a top-tier magic carpet suspension, which is quite rare among vehicles in the same price range. The front double-wishbone and rear five-link full aluminum chassis also provide advantages in handling and stability. The GL8 hybrid, on the other hand, is SAIC-GM's first new energy MPV, and its true capabilities require a detailed analysis to see how these two heavyweight contenders stack up against each other.
The GL8 hybrid is making its first move, with a design that caters to its existing user base while continuously improving and upgrading its hybrid technology based on market feedback. We will keep a close eye on the ongoing competition between these two vehicles!
