Beijing does have some ideas:
1) Beijing is already so congested. While lifting license plate restrictions could stimulate consumption, the resulting additional congestion would be unacceptable.2) So how to encourage car consumption? The solution lies in the existing vehicle pool - incentivizing residents to replace old cars with new ones through trade-in subsidies, without adding new vehicles to the roads.Residents who scrap old cars and purchase new energy passenger vehicles can enjoy subsidies of up to 20,000 yuan; those choosing fuel vehicles with 2.0L or smaller displacement can get increased subsidies of 15,000 yuan, provided the old car was registered under the applicant's name before July 25, 2024.It's indeed a thoughtful approach - neither increasing Beijing's vehicle numbers (which would worsen congestion) while encouraging car consumption (getting Beijingers to upgrade), and promoting new energy vehicles (greener than fuel cars). Quite an effort 😄The copyright of this article belongs to the original author/organization.
