The U.S. officially imposes 50% tariffs on Chinese polysilicon and silicon wafers
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative issued a statement saying that after a four-year review by the Biden administration, the U.S. will increase tariffs on solar wafers, polysilicon, and some tungsten products imported from China starting early next year. The tariff rate for silicon wafers and polysilicon will rise to 50%, while the tariff rate for some tungsten products will increase to 25%. These tariff hikes will take effect on January 1, 2025.
