Jensen Huang really deserves to die. Quantum computing plummeted in January because Jensen said commercialization would take a long time, but then he turned around and invested in quantum computing companies. Starting Monday, quantum computing companies surged again.
The most impressive is $D-Wave Quantum(QBTS.US), which has tripled in the last three weeks. Coupled with the release of the new, most advanced, highest-performance, commercially viable "Advantage2" quantum computing system, it surged last night and is also up significantly in pre-market trading today.
The Information first reported on Sunday that $NVIDIA(NVDA.US) is in investment talks with quantum computing startup PsiQuantum (not yet public) to raise at least $750 million in a new funding round.
According to previous reports, PsiQuantum is seeking funding at a pre-money valuation of $6 billion, with BlackRock expected to lead the round. Nvidia's involvement was not previously disclosed.
This stands in stark contrast to Jensen Huang's cautious stance on the prospects of quantum computing earlier this year. In January, Jensen said quantum computing might take 20 years to become a practical technology.
