$Palantir Tech(PLTR.US) secured a revised Maven contract worth $795 million from the military two days ago. It's worth noting for fundamental tracking.
Maven is a U.S. Department of Defense project for real-time battlefield data analysis, launched in 2017. Initially, Google was the primary supplier, but internal employee protests (against military involvement) led to its withdrawal, and PLTR took over. Over the years, the project has grown significantly:
2017: Maven project, with Google's participation
2019: Google withdrew due to employee protests; Palantir took over
2021: Palantir began developing the Maven prototype system
2022: $229 million one-year extension contract
2023: Maven project transferred to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)
2024: $480 million five-year extension contract, expanding to thousands of users
2024: Additional $100 million five-year extension contract, covering all military branches
April 2025: NATO adopted the Maven system
May 2025: Expanded the original $480 million contract to $795 million
Maven became Palantir's first contract with a total value exceeding $1 billion. The product is mature, with extremely high profit margins. As the sole provider, the military is unlikely to switch suppliers. Maven has set the standard for "truly useful software," opening doors to NATO's international market.
In 2019, during the era of LGBT and minority values, Google engineers protested to the point of the company rejecting military projects for the sake of peace.
Six years later, with Trump's "America First" as the new political norm, major companies have shifted to prioritize national interests, accelerating domestic investments and government project participation. AI competition has reached a new dimension, closely tied to national interests, and PLTR stands alone in this regard.
