
In August 2025, the UK new car market saw a year-on-year decline in sales, hitting the lowest level since the same period in 2022. However, cumulative sales for the first eight months of this year showed a slight increase. Traditional fuel vehicles continued to shrink, while pure electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid models performed well, with pure EVs reaching a new high in market share this year. In terms of brands, Volkswagen and Ford remained at the forefront, while Chinese brands like BYD and JAC (Jiekou) grew rapidly, with the JAC 7 making its debut in the top ten monthly sales rankings for models.
