New product will "change everything"? OpenAI is developing two Agent software in-house.

OpenAI's success has made it the hottest startup in the AI field. However, competition in the AI industry is becoming increasingly fierce, with various chatbots emerging. Facing relentless competition from rivals such as Alphabet-C and Claude, OpenAI is also intensifying the development of other products.

According to media reports, OpenAI is developing two revolutionary Agent software. One of them is capable of effectively taking over a customer's device to automatically perform complex tasks. For example, transferring data from documents to spreadsheets for analysis, automatically filling out expense reports and inputting them into accounting software, or creating itineraries or booking flights based on a certain budget.

According to an insider, the agent is capable of automatically performing operations such as clicking, moving the cursor, and inputting text, just like a human operating software.

OpenAI's CEO has previously mentioned his vision - OpenAI will become a "super-intelligent personal assistant" paving the way for AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) that can perform any task that humans can do.

However, OpenAI must also address users' concerns about taking control of computers and automated operations. Takeover may remind some people of malicious software, as it is well known that malicious software illegally takes control of computers and steals data.

According to the report, according to OpenAI's plan, the agent that takes over the user's computer needs permission to work. To ensure response speed, OpenAI may need to run large models partially locally (known as "edge computing"). In contrast, currently, all computations for accessing OpenAI are done in the cloud through Microsoft Azure.

The report states that OpenAI's agent product has been in development for over a year, and the specific release date is still unclear.

Last month, an OpenAI employee posted a job posting on X, stating that the company's upcoming new product will "change everything."

The company's announcement also hints at OpenAI's intention to launch agent products. In November's customer event, OpenAI launched the Assistants API, which allows developers to build agent-like experiences in their own applications. By leveraging the API, the GPT model can generate charts, track conversation history, and retrieve information from external documents.

However, although this tool allows developers to connect their agents to the internet or perform tasks in designated external applications, it does not give the agent complete control or knowledge of the user's computer.
