ByteDance's daily active users experienced a sharp decline?!

According to a report from a U.S. media outlet, ByteDance did not actually achieve growth in the last quarter of 2023 based on an important indicator. In fact, there was a reversal even in the United States.

The chart cited from the U.S. media outlet BI shows the year-on-year growth rate of daily active users (DAU) of popular social media apps globally. The data was reviewed quarterly by analysts from Evercore ISI using Sensor Tower data.

After experiencing competition in the first half of 2020-2022, ByteDance's (red line) DAU year-on-year growth rate plummeted. Even in the fourth quarter of 2023, it lagged behind Snapchat (purple), YouTube (pale green), Instagram (yellow), and Facebook (blue).
