vivo's latest mid-to-high-end product "S19 series" was launched on May 30th. This series includes two products: S19 and S19 Pro, priced at 2499 yuan and 3299 yuan respectively.

Compared to the previous generation vivo S18 series, the biggest differences in the S19 series are in two main aspects: battery life and multi-focal-length portraits. The advantages of the previous generation, including the design and colors filled with Eastern aesthetic charm, are retained.

Within vivo's entire product lineup, the S series is positioned as mid-to-high-end compared to the high-end flagship X series, mainly targeting young consumers with a focus on exterior design and excellent portrait photography. In summary, vivo S series models have moderate performance configurations, slim and lightweight bodies, high aesthetics, outstanding shooting effects, and are more suitable for female users.

The vivo S19 Pro has many distinctive features worth mentioning.

This model has a body thickness of only 7.58mm, yet it boasts a high battery capacity of 5500mAh. Additionally, vivo has introduced OIS optical image stabilization for the first time in a dual telephoto lens setup, along with flagship-level multiple portrait focal lengths—24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 100mm, covering a wide range of portrait shooting scenarios such as full-body portraits, half-body portraits, and close-ups.

The S19 Pro features a rear triple-camera setup, with the main camera using the Sony IMX921 sensor jointly developed by vivo and Sony, incorporating vivo's self-developed human eye biomimetic technology. It has a 1/1.56-inch photosensitive unit with a pixel size of 1.0 micrometers and an aperture of F1.88.

The main camera lens is equipped with vivo's self-developed OIS super stabilization technology, achieving a stability level of CIPA 4.0 professional camera-grade stabilization, a 1.5-level improvement over the S18 Pro, making it likely the best in its class in terms of stability.

The S19 Pro also features a medium telephoto portrait lens with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX816 sensor, a relatively small photosensitive unit of 1/2.93, a pixel size of 0.6 micrometers, an aperture of F1.85, 2x optical zoom, and support for high-resolution 4X zoom cropping. This medium telephoto lens is the first in the S series to be equipped with OIS optical image stabilization.

Among the various portrait focal lengths, the 50mm is a classic choice.

The 50mm fixed-focus lens is very suitable for photography beginners because its field of view closely matches that of the human eye, providing a similar visual effect to what the naked eye sees. Through customized circuit design, vivo has successfully reduced the volume of the protection board by 15% and adopted a folding design, significantly reducing the space required for battery packaging. Compared to traditional designs, the space occupied is reduced by about 50%. In addition, vivo has developed an ultra-thin and sturdy battery casing: even with the same overall battery volume, the battery capacity has increased by about 120mAh.

According to public test data, it takes about 45 minutes for the S19 Pro to charge from 0 to 100%, while the S19 takes about 60 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%.

In terms of overall performance, the S19 Pro is equipped with the MediaTek flagship chip Dimensity 9200+ (released in 2022), using TSMC's N4P process technology. The CPU part consists of 1 large 3.35GHz Cortex-X3 core, 3 large 3.0GHz Cortex-A715 cores, and 4 efficient 2.0GHz Cortex-510 cores, while the GPU uses an 11-core Mali G715 running at 1.15GHz. The storage specifications use LPDDR5X+UFS3.1.

The S19 is equipped with the third-generation Snapdragon 7 mobile platform, using TSMC's 4nm process technology, consisting of 4 large cores and 4 small cores, with one large core reaching a frequency of 2.63GHz, resulting in an overall performance improvement of about 15% compared to the previous generation.
