Microsoft launches all-new all-digital Xbox Series X/S and a series of new titles including "Call of Duty"

According to Zhitong Finance APP, on Sunday local time, Microsoft (MSFT.US) held its annual 2024 Xbox game showcase, unveiling the all-new digital-only Xbox Series X and S game consoles, as well as more than ten game trailers including the next installment in the "Call of Duty" series.

For Xbox and Microsoft, this game showcase comes at a critical moment as the gaming industry is facing a downturn, with publishers struggling to cope with issues such as weak sales, layoffs, and studio closures.

Microsoft showcased three game consoles, including the discless versions of Xbox X series and S series game consoles, as well as a special edition of Series X with a storage capacity of 2 TB.

This hardware update will help Xbox boost its game console sales and compete with Sony's (SONY.US) PlayStation 5.

The showcased games include the new installment in the "Doom" series, "Doom: Dark Ages," as well as a new installment in the "Gears of War" series.

A large number of games, including new titles like "Doom" and "Call of Duty," will be available on Xbox Game Pass on the day of their release, indicating that Microsoft is doubling down on this subscription service to attract consumers struggling in a relatively weak economy.

Following the game showcase was a special event by Activision Blizzard studio, focusing on the upcoming release in October of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 6," highlighting the features, characters, and gameplay of the game.

Developers Treyarch and Raven Software showcased gameplay footage from the early 1990s in the game, promoting features such as a new movement system that allows players to sprint in all directions, as well as the fan-favorite "zombies" mode
