According to the financial news app Zhitong Finance, Microsoft (MSFT.US), which is facing product safety reviews, will cancel a new artificial intelligence feature in its Windows software for new personal computers and instead test it in a smaller team.
Recall is a Windows feature launched in May this year that can create a record of everything a user does on their personal computer - the purpose of this feature is to make it easier for users to handle tasks such as organizing emails or searching for files. Microsoft plans to fully release Recall on June 18, but stated that it will only be available in the Windows Insider program in the coming weeks.
In a blog post on its website on Thursday, the company stated: "We are adjusting the release mode of Recall to leverage the expertise of the Windows Insider community to ensure the experience meets our high quality and security standards. After receiving feedback from our Windows Insider community on Recall, as we usually do, we plan to soon provide Recall (Preview) for all Copilot+PC."
It is understood that after the launch of Recall, this feature immediately faced scrutiny from cybersecurity experts, who claimed that malicious actors could access and retrieve the local records collected and stored on users' computers by this tool. Microsoft responded by stating that the Recall feature in the Windows system will be turned off by default unless users choose to activate it. The company mentioned that additional security measures need to be taken before enabling the Recall feature
