Novo Nordisk: to limit the supply of weight-loss drug Wegovy in China to avoid global supply disruptions

Maziar Mike Doustdar, head of Novo Nordisk's international business, said the company plans to launch Wegovy in China soon, but will limit the supply to avoid depleting supplies in other parts of the world.

"Demand far exceeds current supply, this is no longer a secret," Doustdar said in a media interview on Thursday. "We cannot fully open to all centers and hospitals on the first day, and then have a situation where, for example, we launch the product on Monday, but by Wednesday or Thursday (the drug is sold out), those who started taking it on Monday will not have enough medication."
