Trump campaign office bugged? US police speak out

According to a report by The New York Times on September 3, there were rumors last week that a listening device was installed in the office of former U.S. President Trump's campaign team in West Palm Beach, Florida. Local police received the report, arrived at the scene, and conducted a search, eventually finding a plastic prank device with an online price of $13.97.

The New York Times cited a police report from the West Palm Beach Police Department detailing the incident. On August 29 local time, a beeping sound was heard under a desk in Trump's campaign office, and after a search by campaign staff, a total of three devices were found.

The police wrote in the report: "Potential listening devices were found, beeping sounds were heard from the desk, and the internal security personnel also found the devices." The report stated that the person who reported it believed, "They found listening devices in the office."

The report mentioned that in the presence of the police, officials from Trump's campaign team quickly determined that these devices were likely part of a prank. A source familiar with the matter revealed that no one has admitted to orchestrating this prank. Trump's spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The police report stated that at the time, "approximately 50 staff members were evacuated from the office." The person in charge of security at the building where the incident occurred told the police that he believed "these devices were part of a prank. To ensure whether there are more devices or evidence of negative impact, these offices have been carefully inspected."
