Federal funds futures trading volume hits a record high, coupled with poor non-farm data and Powell's speech, traders increase bets on the Fed interest rates

Bloomberg compilation data shows that as of 13:00 Eastern Time on Friday (01:00 Beijing Time on Saturday), the trading volume of the second-tier contract of the US Federal Funds Futures (mainly the main contract) reached 900,000 contracts, setting a new record for any contract (single day) since the appearance of this trading instrument in 1988. The October contract surpassed the historical high set in March 2023, when the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank shook the US financial markets
