Employees of Elon Musk's Tesla, SpaceX, and X companies donated to Harris while he himself supports Trump
Billionaire Elon Musk supported former Republican President Trump's campaign for the White House, but employees of his companies mainly donated to Trump's Democratic opponent Kamala Harris. According to OpenSecrets, a non-partisan non-profit organization tracking US campaign donations and lobbying data, Tesla employees donated $42,824 to Harris' presidential campaign, while donating $24,840 to Trump's campaign. Employees of Musk's rocket company SpaceX donated $34,526 to Harris and $7,652 to Trump. Employees of social media platform X donated $13,213 to Harris and less than $500 to Trump. Although these numbers are relatively small in campaign fundraising, they indicate a political inclination inconsistent with Musk himself. As the world's richest person, Musk had previously voiced support for Trump on X. Musk had supported Biden in 2020 but has since shifted to the right. Trump had stated that if he won the election on November 5th, he would appoint Musk to lead a government efficiency committee
