NVIDIA partners with UAE AI company G42 to create a climate technology laboratory
NVIDIA partners with UAE AI company G42 to establish a climate technology laboratory aimed at developing artificial intelligence to improve weather forecasting accuracy. The laboratory will leverage NVIDIA's Earth-2 climate digital twin cloud platform to advance environmental sustainability research and utilize over 100PB of geophysical data assets. This move further solidifies the UAE's position in the field of artificial intelligence in the Middle East
According to the financial news app Zhitong Finance, NVIDIA (NVDA.US) will collaborate with the UAE artificial intelligence company G42 to establish a climate technology laboratory. In a statement released on Friday, the two companies will focus on developing artificial intelligence that can improve the accuracy of weather forecasts. They will rely on NVIDIA's climate digital twin cloud platform Earth-2, which aims to help scientists and researchers better understand and predict the impact of climate change through high-precision simulation and visualization technology, thereby reducing economic losses caused by extreme weather.
The statement mentioned that the climate technology laboratory "will serve as a research and development center, driving both companies' commitment to environmental sustainability," and will also "mobilize the creation of tailored climate and weather solutions using over 100PB of geophysical data assets."
NVIDIA, a chip manufacturer at the center of the artificial intelligence spending boom, has been accelerating the development of new products while expanding its business scope. In June of this year, NVIDIA announced plans to upgrade its artificial intelligence accelerators annually, with a roadmap that includes the new Blackwell product line set to be launched by the end of this year, as well as the next-generation Rubin platform under development, planned for release in 2026.
Earlier this week, Microsoft and G42 announced a collaboration to establish an artificial intelligence research institute, with both parties opening two centers in Abu Dhabi to conduct "responsible" artificial intelligence projects. The two companies stated that this deal builds on their partnership established in April, where Microsoft will invest $1.5 billion in G42. G42 has also partnered with OpenAI, which is seeking to expand in the Gulf region.
The collaboration with NVIDIA will help strengthen the UAE's position as a leading artificial intelligence superpower in the Middle East. The CEO of G42 stated that the collaboration with NVIDIA will pave the way not only for innovation but also for addressing critical global challenges
