Top-selling global smartphones in the third quarter: Samsung occupies the top five, while Apple's numbers slightly decline
On December 5th, Counterpoint Research released data on the top ten best-selling devices in global smartphone sales for the third quarter of 2024. With the increasing market share of other smartphone brands, Apple's number of positions in the top ten list has slightly decreased. Samsung alone occupies five positions on the list, with the Galaxy S series returning to the top ten for the first time since 2018 in the September quarter. Ongoing marketing around GenAI features has helped maintain demand. The iPhone 15 holds a 3% share of the entire smartphone market, followed closely by the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro. Compared to a year ago, the gap between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 has narrowed, as consumers opt for better cameras and screens, and promotional offers and trade-in programs have made upgrading more convenient. Xiaomi's Redmi 13C has remained in the top ten for two consecutive quarters, replicating the success of its predecessor, the Redmi 12C
