U.S. nuclear power stocks have skyrocketed! Experts warn: fulfilling promises will be key for tech companies next year
Nuclear power will become a market focus in 2024. Expert Mark Nelson pointed out that technology companies are showing increased interest in nuclear power, but 2025 will be a key year for fulfilling commitments. Despite many commitments made by companies this year, Nelson believes that executives are caught off guard by energy issues, and opportunities in nuclear energy are increasing. U.S. nuclear power stocks have performed strongly, with NANO Nuclear Energy soaring 600% and NuScale Power rising over 500%
According to the Zhitong Finance APP, nuclear power has become a focal point of market attention in 2024. Mark Nelson, Managing Director of Radiant Energy Group, stated that while interest in nuclear power among technology companies has increased in 2023, 2024 will be “as if the whole world has discovered nuclear power.”
He explained that the intersection of artificial intelligence and energy demand has made people realize that “technology companies do not have practical energy growth strategies,” creating opportunities for nuclear power. However, he warned that despite many “commitments” made by major companies this year, 2025 will be “the year of ‘show me’.”
Nelson stated, “It is clear that the executives of these companies are somewhat caught off guard by energy issues, and they are scrambling to understand energy.” He pointed out that “nuclear energy is a special form of energy,” but he remains optimistic about infrastructure development in 2025, stating that things are moving in the “right direction.”
Nelson also commented on the nomination of Chris Wright by elected President Donald Trump for the position of Secretary of Energy, saying, “All I hear is good news.”
Since the beginning of this year, U.S. nuclear power stocks have surged, with NANO Nuclear Energy (NNE.US) skyrocketing 600%, NuScale Power (SMR.US) rising over 500%, Vistra Energy (VST.US) and Talen Energy (TLN.US) increasing over 200%, and Graham (GHM.US) and Oklo Inc (OKLO.US) rising over 100%
