"Battle of the Glasses" - The First Hot Track of 2025
Smart AR glasses have been in development for many years. As early as 2012, Google launched the AI glasses Google Glass, which appeared almost simultaneously with smartphones.
However, for a long time, smart AR glasses generally faced issues with battery life and performance, which have not been effectively resolved. Especially after integrating displays into the lenses, problems such as large size and fast power consumption became prominent, leading to a poor wearing experience, making them "good-looking but useless," and failing to create a phenomenon-level consumer brand.
Until the emergence of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which achieved global sales of 2 million pairs, becoming the first blockbuster in the smart AR glasses market, allowing the industry to truly feel the potential of smart AR glasses and providing a strong boost to the industry.
With the global popularity of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, a large number of Chinese manufacturers have begun to enter the market. Since the second half of last year, especially since October, domestic manufacturers have crowded to release new products, creating a "battle of the glasses" phenomenon.
At this CES, over 80 AR/VR and related companies from China appeared, with nearly 20 companies showcasing new products for smart AR glasses, creating a highly competitive atmosphere. Yiou predicts that smart AR glasses are expected to become the first hot track emerging in 2025. According to Wellsenn XR's prediction, starting from 2025, smart AR glasses will rapidly penetrate the market, and by 2029, the annual sales of AI smart glasses are expected to reach 55 million pairs, becoming one of the most popular electronic products after smartphones.
