Just yesterday, the uncamouflaged spy photos of the new version of Tesla Model Y were revealed, and today it has been officially launched on the website, with two configuration models available. The rear-wheel drive debut version is priced at 263,500 yuan, which is an increase of 13,600 yuan compared to the old Model Y. The long-range all-wheel drive debut version is also priced at 303,500 yuan, and the new car is expected to start delivery in March.
From the official images and uncamouflaged real car, the new version of Model Y will have earth-shattering changes. The front and rear light groups have been adjusted to a through-type design, in line with the popular trend in the domestic market, but there have also been voices questioning the originality of the design from consumers. Specifically, the front shape of the new version of Model Y still maintains a simple and stylish style. The front face adopts the currently popular through-type light group, which is not a continuous light strip but a three-segment design similar to XPeng, closely resembling the lighting style of the Cybertruck and Robotaxi Cybercab. The separate high and low beam light groups are located at the bottom, integrated with the "C" shaped air intake, and combined with the trapezoidal lower grille and black front lip elements, making the front face more sporty.
The side of the car remains consistent with the old model, still featuring a smooth and dynamic coupe-style SUV shape. The sensor probe behind the front fender and the hidden door handles are still present, and the new wheel design also has a good visual performance. In terms of body dimensions, the new version of Model Y measures 4797/2129/1624mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2890mm. The body length has slightly increased, while other data remains unchanged.
The changes at the rear of the car are concentrated on the taillights, which have been replaced with a new through-type taillight. The long and straight light strip bends on both sides to form a "C" shape and uses relatively soft diffuse light sources, enhancing the sense of luxury. It comes with a 62.5 kWh battery pack and offers 19-inch/20-inch wheels, corresponding to CLTC pure electric ranges of 593 km and 559 km, respectively.
The long-range all-wheel-drive version is equipped with dual motors, with maximum powers of 137 kW and 194 kW for the front and rear motors, respectively, achieving a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. The battery capacity is 78.4 kWh, and the corresponding CLTC pure electric ranges for the 19-inch and 20-inch wheels are 719 km and 662 km, respectively.
Due to the old Model Y's certain models being eligible for a discount of 10,000 yuan on the final payment, the price increase for the refreshed version is quite noticeable. As the overall single vehicle sales champion for 2024, the Model Y has the confidence to raise prices, but 2025 is not without challenges. The continuously popular Aito R7 and the highly anticipated Xiaomi YU7 may pose a certain threat to the Model Y, which has not seen significant changes in configuration.
