
"Performance" Automotive semiconductor company ON Semiconductor reports quarterly loss, stock price drops over 8%
Automotive semiconductor manufacturer ON Semiconductor (Onsemi) (ON.US) announced its first-quarter results for the year ending April 4. The quarterly performance turned from profit to loss, recording a loss of $486 million, compared to a net profit of $453 million in the same period last year. The diluted loss per share for the quarter was $1.15, while adjusted earnings were $0.55, exceeding market expectations of $0.50. Quarterly revenue fell 22.4% year-on-year to $1.446 billion, higher than the market expectation of $1.4 billion.
The company expects adjusted earnings per share for the current quarter to be between $0.48 and $0.58, with quarterly revenue projected to be between $1.4 billion and $1.5 billion, while market expectations are $0.51 and $1.41 billion, respectively.
ON Semiconductor's stock price fell 8.4%, closing at $38.41
