International Paper Co. plans to close five packaging sites in the UK and reduce its workforce as part of a strategic review following its acquisition of DS Smith. The company will also relocate one site and adjust the operating schedule of another, affecting approximately 300 roles by the end of 2025. International Paper Co. plans to close five packaging sites in the UK as part of a strategic review following the completion of its acquisition of DS Smith.

Theour packaging company also intends to relocate one packaging site, reduce the operating schedule of another and carry out a "small" headcount reduction at two other UK packaging facilities, according to a Friday filing.

The proposed changes are expected to be implemented by the end of 2025, with 300 roles anticipated to be affected. The company noted that consultations with employees and unions are underway.
