Former Vice Minister of Commerce Chen Jian: The automotive industry's core technology innovation is insufficient, but the research and development of new energy vehicles is refreshing
The 2025 China Automobile Chongqing Forum will be held on June 6-7. He pointed out that there are still several issues in the current automobile industry: insufficient core technology innovation, weak independent research and development capabilities, but the research and development of new energy vehicles is refreshing; insufficient industry concentration, with backward production capacity; contradictions between transportation, environmental protection, and energy development, with pain points still existing in automobile production, sales, and service; how to ensure fairness in industrial development policies cannot rely solely on subsidies. In addition, he also mentioned the topic of involution competition, believing that it is very harmful to the industry. "Do not engage in involution competition; we should form a joint force for common development," he said
