China CIRC has signed a procurement intention contract for food gamma irradiation facilities with a well-known agricultural products company in Peru, planning to build the first commercial gamma irradiation station in Peru. The project will provide comprehensive technical and service support, aiming to extend the shelf life of organic fruits and vegetables, enhance cold chain circulation efficiency, and assist in upgrading agricultural product exports. This cooperation will promote the application of nuclear technology in the civilian sector in Latin America and deepen the cooperation between China and Peru in the fields of nuclear technology and agriculture
According to the Zhitong Finance APP, China National Nuclear Corporation (CIRC) announced that its Beijing branch recently signed a procurement intention contract for food gamma irradiation facilities with a well-known agricultural products company in Peru in Lima. This project is the first irradiation station cooperation project that the company plans to promote in the Latin American region and is also expected to be the first commercial gamma irradiation facility in Peru.
The project plans to build a food gamma irradiation station with a design source capacity of up to one million curies, with comprehensive technical and service support provided by the Chinese side, including overall design, equipment supply, radiation source supply, installation and debugging, and personnel training, systematically outputting the company's mature experience in the field of irradiation technology. This facility is intended for the preservation treatment of organic fruits and vegetables to extend product shelf life, improve cold chain circulation efficiency, and assist in upgrading agricultural product exports. The project owner is a core supplier for a large local chain supermarket.
This cooperation not only fills the gap in irradiation applications in Peru but also promotes the widespread implementation of nuclear technology in the civilian field in the Latin American region, demonstrating the company's output capacity and technological advantages in the global nuclear technology industry chain.
