Bargain hunting and stockpiling essentials: American consumers are "penny-pinching" to cope with the impact of tariff policies
The American e-commerce platform Amazon will launch its Prime Day promotional event from July 8 to 11 local time. Analysis companies predict that this year's Amazon Prime Day sales will increase by nearly 30% compared to the same period last year, which is related to the impact of U.S. government tariff policies. Unlike previous years when the Prime Day promotional event lasted one to two days, this year's Amazon Prime Day has been extended to four days. The Associated Press analysis points out that part of the reason for the extension is that Amazon is trying to offset the impact of rising product prices caused by U.S. government tariff policies on sales. According to forecasts from U.S. analytics company Adobe, due to American shoppers rushing to buy discounted clothing and electronic products, which are popular items for the back-to-school season, Amazon's sales during this year's Prime Day discount event are expected to reach $23.8 billion, an increase of about 28.4% compared to the same period last year
